BIOGRAPHIE

The meeting with a painter during his studies at the University was a real shock for him. He discovered a universe thatwas totally foreign to him. It was a revelation. Frédéric LE GUEVEL spent many hours in his studio, watching him work and learning the inner workings of the art market and decided to stop his studies. Then begins a long period of investigation on art, the history of art and artists.

There, second shock. The artists of the School of Paris and in particular, Modigliani reveals himself to him. He beginsto paint prolifically. Soon, he exhibited in a gallery in Chantilly: first public exhibition and first success … Thenother gallerists and art dealers.

Tired of doing too many paintings and for fear of repeating himself, Frédéric LE GUEVEL decides to embark on a more personal painting.

To extract and concretize this desire he isolates himself in a workshop for more than a year. Many researches have mad
him rediscover styles and artistic trends and quite quickly, his choices are towards Narrative Figuration, Pop Art or
Hyperrealism.

Frédéric LE GUEVEL does not seek to appropriate one of these currents in particular, but on the contrary, he chooses todraw elements in each of them. Then, the main idea of his work came in a rather obvious way.

Frédéric LE GUEVEL chooses to dwell on the way we look at women. The look that the man takes on the woman, but also andespecially, the look that the woman carries on herself.

Over the tables, the paradoxes that surround these different looks are pointed out. The desire to show an image of herself, rather imprinted with feminism … but also the desire to keep a seductive image … To play with beauty, youth, feminine power.
